ACTION MESOTHELIOMA DAY 2011
The BASG Action Mesothelioma Day 2011 took place at Abbots House on 1 July 2011. It was the second year in a row for the event, which raises awareness of mesothelioma, a cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. As is now traditional, there were cakes and tea on offer and the day was marked by a dove release, in memory of those affected by mesothelioma.
The dove release was preceded by an incredibly moving speech from Ros Lee. Ros' husband Steve had spoken at the previous year's event, but has since passed away following a long battle with mesothelioma.
The day was a moving, but ultimately uplifting one for all involved.
The event was attended by Rob Wilson MP for Reading East, who stated "I was humbled to meet so many people coming together to support each other through their difficult moments in such a positive manner. Mesothelioma is a particularly cruel condition and with many more people due to need the help of organisations such as the BASG in the coming years, it is vitally important that all their hard work is supported."

Below are some photos from Action Mesothelioma Day 2010, which took place on 2 July 2010. The event was attended by many, including Dr Christopher Davies, a consultant respiratory physician and Steve Lee, a local resident who had been diagnosed with mesothelioma. Sadly, Steve has since passed away.
