Action Mesothelioma Day 2016
July 21, 2016

The Berkshire Asbestos Support Group’s Action Mesothelioma Day 2012 took place on 1st July 2016. Action Mesothelioma Day is a nationwide event. It aims to raise awareness and to support and remember those who have been diagnosed or affected by mesothelioma.
Every year, on the first Friday in July, events are organised by asbestos victims support groups in towns and cities throughout the UK. The day is coordinated by the British Lung Foundation.
The Berkshire Asbestos Support Group held afternoon tea at the Crowne Plaza in Reading. A dove release took place overlooking the River Thames in memory of those who have been affected by asbestos related diseases.
The event was well attended by members who have lost family due to Mesothelioma and those who continue to suffer from the asbestos cancer and other debilitating asbestos diseases. The clinical nurse specialists from the Royal Berkshire Hospital and Dr Alan McKenna from the University of Kent attended to show their support.
All proceeds raised went to Mesothelioma UK.
