Action Mesothelioma Day is all about raising awareness, supporting and remembering those who have been diagnosed or affected by mesothelioma.
The Berkshire Asbestos Support Group's Action Mesothelioma Day was held on Friday 4 July 2014 in the gardens of Abbots House, Abbey Street, Reading. The Berkshire Asbestos Support Group is dedicated to providing support and advice for local sufferers of asbestos related illnesses and their families.
The day is co-ordinated by the British Lung Foundation and this year the focus was to call for long term investment into mesothelioma research.
At this year's event the Berkshire Asbestos Support Group held afternoon tea on the lawn and a dove release in memory of those affected by mesothelioma. As well as members of the support group and their families, also in attendance was Jane Beckmann, Health & Safety Co-ordinator at the Health & Safety Executive based in Basingstoke who discussed changes in rules and regulations over the years with regards to working with asbestos in the construction industry and Rachit Buch and Aliyah Akram, experienced barristers from 12KBW Chambers.
